We are SO ready for spring, and not just for the weather. Spring in the Valley 2024 will be making its FOURTH appearance on April 27th! As one of our favorite events, it somehow gets better and better each year.
With the bar being set so high, we are counting on you to come out and let us know if we top 2023’s SIV. It’s only because of you – our SGF community – that we are able to keep making this annual event so successful. With each sponsorship, donation, vendor fee, and ticket purchase, our mission is impacting the lives of many deserving families caring for children with disabilities.
Now, we can’t let all of our secrets out for Spring in the Valley 2024, but we might let a few slip.
Vroom, Vroom… SIV’s Car & Bike Show is BACK
Blake Alvey and his incredible team at Automax of Rome must really love SGF, because they are sponsoring our Spring in the Valley Car & Bike Show for a THIRD time.
Do you have a car or bike you want to show off? Register here and then come join us April 27th to let the judges decide. Share this with your fellow car and bike enthusiasts because a little competition can be healthy. Plus, if your ride is chosen over theirs, it makes the bragging rights even sweeter.
We cannot say thank you enough to Automax for sponsoring this fun-filled feature again!
Spring in the Valley Favorite: SGF Kids Booth
Our SGF Kids Booth is run by Emily, SGF Board Member and SLP-CCC, and Ashley, Occupational Therapist Assistant and blog contributor. This space was created to ensure that children of all abilities can live their best lives at SIV. If you thought this feature was already full of fun and inclusive activities, then you’re going to love it even more this year.
Everyone has enjoyed the art station so much and now it’s about to get even better because we are bringing TIE DYE to the SGF Kids Booth this year. This activity is inspired by our SGF theme (we will get to that in a minute) and World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD).
On this day, people all over the world have a colorful excuse to wear crazy and fun socks. This idea was created because chromosomes are shaped “like socks” and people with Down syndrome have an extra chromosome. Although this date will have passed by the time SIV 2024 is here, we want everyone to save their socks and wear them on March 21, 2025, in honor of WDSD.

Oh, the FUN you will have at SIV
So, we’ve already covered the car and bike show and SGF Kids Booth. Now, let’s move on to some of the other family-friendly activities we have in store for you.
As always, there will be face painting, a petting zoo, live music, vendor shopping, and food trucks. Although we are not disclosing all the details from this year’s event, we will share a little teaser to appease your curiosity (just a little).
Here are a few activities and vendors you can expect to see:
Fire Department and EMS
Bubble house from House of Bounce and Balloons (generously donated)
Bows n Bones
Frozen Temptations (freeze dried candies)
Jackson Park Creations (woodworking)
We are also welcoming back some of our favorite food trucks!
Shelby’s Coffee (coffee/smoothies)
Mahli’s Unipop (gourmet popcorn/hot dogs)

Kona
Ok, that’s all for now. If you want to stay up to date with the festivities (old and new) as we announce them, be sure to follow us on social media.

Partnership with the Children’s Museum of Rome
In case you missed our social announcement last month, SGF has partnered with Children’s Museum of Rome for SIV 2024. They are coordinating an ART SHOW featuring many local schools. We are beyond excited to team up with this local nonprofit to bring their creative and interactive activities to this event, and to see all the artists work.
‘Our mission is to provide a hands on, interactive learning environment where families can explore, learn, and grow together! Through partnerships with the Rome/Floyd community, we will inspire curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning through engaging exhibits and educational opportunities.”
Chilren’s Museum of Rome
With a mission statement like that, you can see why SGF is so excited about this addition to our favorite community event.
Peace, Love, and SGF
Our event t-shirts are the BEST because they are designed by an SGF kiddo gifted from a previous Spring in the Valley. This year’s chosen artist is Micah!
Micah and his family were gifted from SIV 2023. His sister also helped him with the design, which made it even more special. Not only will you see this groovy creation on our event t-shirts, but you will also see it incorporated throughout the vendor booths and event decor to showcase our Spring in the Valley 2024 theme: Peace, Love, and SGF!
Now you know how our tie dye sock activity ties into our theme!
Bring the Whole Family and Enjoy SIV
We strive to serve the whole family, which is why this annual event is such a reflection of our mission. As people would exit last year’s event, we kept hearing, “We love what y’all are doing here and can’t wait to come back next year!” THIS – this is one of the many reasons why we love our SGF community. You keep showing up for us, making it possible for us to keep showing up for families caring for children with disabilities.
Thank you for believing in our mission and sharing our passion for this special community we are so proud to serve!

Drumroll for Spring in the Valley 2024’s Presenting Sponsor: Relentless Chiropractic
SGF is grateful to Dr. Sean and his team at Relentless Chiropractic for always supporting SGF. Relentless Chiropractic takes pride in their “hands on” adjustments by using an effective approach in evaluating patients using the Gonstead system. Dr. Sean and his incredible team now provide services at two locations, in Rome and Calhoun. This will be their second year as presenting sponsor at SIV, so you know the love for our mission is genuine.
