Spring in the Valley 2023 Outshines Expectations

Spring in the Valley 2023 Outshines Expectations

Specially Gifted Foundation’s third annual Spring in the Valley Festival was a huge success!  The best words to describe it would have to be impactful, community, and FUN!  The weather turned out to be perfect, and everyone came together to support SGF in a meaningful way at our biggest community event.  We are beyond thrilled to share SIV 2023’s success with our SGF community!

Everyone was fired up for the Car and Bike Show

Our second annual Spring in the Valley Car and Bike Show sponsored by Automax of Rome was a hit, again!  The crowd appeared to take great pleasure in browsing through and judging the eclectic collection of cars, trucks, and bikes.  Whether you were a spectator or participant, we appreciate you being a part of this event.   grateful for the many ways Blake Alvey and his team at Automax support our SGF.

FUN times at SIV for the entire family

Where do we begin?!  The SGF Kids Booth is always a favorite place to start.  This station is run by Emily, SGF Board Member and SLP-CCC, and Ashley, Occupational Therapist Assistant and SGF blog contributor, along with some amazing volunteers.

There was paint, bubbles, ring toss, a giant parachute, sidewalk chalk, a water play table, a sand table, and so much more!  We were overwhelmed with emotions as we observed children with disabilities playing alongside typical children.

In addition to the SGF Kids Booth, there were plenty of activities to keep them entertained.  We had a bounce house, petting zoo, face painting, rock climbing wall, trackless train, and Kona Ice.

The kiddos were not the only one’s enjoying themselves.  We had a great turnout of local shopping vendors with items for everyone’s taste.  Several nonprofits were also present to share their organization’s mission and provide educational resources for families.

Yummy Treats and Delightful Tunes

Now, let’s get serious for a moment and discuss one of the most important parts of SIV… the food!  There were tacos, one-of-a-kind sandwiches, pretzels, bratwursts, pastries, smoothies, coffee, and so much more!  Needless to say, I was in food heaven.

While you were shopping, enjoying yummy treats, playing a game of cornhole, watching the kiddos living their best life, or simply soaking in the moment, you were never far from some incredibly talented musicians.  SIV featured several exceptionally gifted artists on stage this year to ensure everyone had a great time.

HitMix USA was also stationed near the ticket booth and broadcasting live.  So, whether you were in line for tickets or heading out, there was an awesome playlist to keep you engaged and entertained.

Sunshine in the Valley

We are excited each year to see what t-shirt design our SGF Kiddo’s come up with.  SIV 2021’s designer was SGF Kiddo Jaxon, 2022’s designer was SGF Angel Jaley, and 2023’s designer was SGF Kiddo John Wyatt.  Event t-shirts are a great way to get our kiddo’s involved and give them an outlet to express their creativity, and to also showcase our generous SIV sponsors.

John Wyatt’s t-shirt design set the theme for this year’s event, and we absolutely loved how it turned out.  He really did bring the sunshine to the valley this year!  Witnessing him and all his sweetness get tickled to see the final product as he danced around proudly was such a precious moment!

SGF Gifted Families Making a Special Appearance

Spring in the Valley has become a huge community event, which makes us so proud.  One of the best parts each year is seeing some of our Gifted Families and connecting with future families.  This year we were blessed to spend some time with Kendall and her family, Jonah, his mom and his service dog, Miles, Harper and her family, Paislee and her family, John Wyatt and his family, Russell’s parents, Stephanie and Joseph, SGF Angel Tyson’s family, and SGF Angel Jaley’s mom and family.  We always look forward to any opportunity where we can see these precious families we are so privileged to serve.

Spring in the Valley 2023 results are in…

Hard work pays off every time, and when you have a village of supporters like we do the payout is exceptionally rewarding.  With that being said, let’s get to the part you have all been waiting for.  Thanks to our incredible sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and community…

Spring in the Valley 2023 raised $25,040 in profit!!!

Yes, you read that right!  We were in shock when reading off the final numbers.

What does this mean for SGF?

This level of success means SGF will be able to fulfill all THREE parts of our mission.  That’s right!  Most people are familiar with one part of our mission – giftings.  Although this is a very prominent part of our organization, SGF is way more than that.  We also provide beneficial resources and a sense of community for the family as a whole.  These two crucial functions of our mission exist because the community we serve expressed their needs and desires, and we listened.

SIV 2023 will make it possible for SGF to gift TWO families in NWGA, fully develop the online resource database, and keep building a community for families who have children with disabilities.

Thank you for the BEST year yet!

From finely tuned engines to musical instruments, our senses were raving with pleasure on this beautiful day spent with our community.  It always warms our hearts to see everyone come together and make special memories at SIV.  On behalf of the entire SGF team, we thank you for supporting our mission and making Spring in the Valley 2023 the most impactful event to date!
