Emergency Preparedness Resource for Floyd County Families with Disabilities

Emergency situations are unfortunately going to happen during life and being as prepared as possible beforehand could make a huge impact on the overall outcome. As families caring for individuals with extra needs your loved ones’ behaviors and needs become your normal, but to an emergency responder they may not know what to look for or expect.

For example, a nonverbal child may hide in a closet or in a certain area of the home when they become overstimulated or scared, but during a fire they wouldn’t be able to call out for help making it difficult for the firemen to locate them. While this situation is something no parent wants to imagine it’s something that fortunately has been discussed within the emergency response teams of Rome and Floyd County.

How to Access Floyd County’s Emergency Preparedness Resource

An AMAZING resource for the community is being provided by Rome and Floyd County emergency services. A form has been created to allow residents to attach special medical information to their address.

If an emergency is called in for the address it will have a flag for the responder to see the information provided, allowing emergency responders to know if there is a child or an individual within the home who may require special assistance or care during an emergency situation.

We have included a link below that will take you to a google form where you can fill out the required information and then fill in specific medical information that will be helpful for all first responders (police, fire, ambulance). This is such an incredible tool the community has provided!
