Why we requested this gift
Our family would love the gift of a vacation to just relax and enjoy life all together and let Malauna see the beach there is a kid friendly resort in Panama City called splash that would be the best time ever. Everything is just so hard right now, and we never know from one moment to the next how Malauna is going to be able to tolerate certain things like walking and heat because as it gets closer to her fontan surgery she gives out of breath very easy. I also would love you see my daughter watch her baby just enjoy life and being carefree!
Hi, my name is Amanda Causey, and my granddaughter Malauna is two years old, and she was born with a very serious heart condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Hypoplastic left heart syndrome is treated through several surgical procedures or a heart transplant. Without surgery, most babies with HLHS will not live longer than a few days or weeks. Surgery typically involves a series of 3 surgeries. In this very complex treatment, the surgeon redirects blood flow to the lungs and the body with several connections. The surgery is done in stages. The first surgery is done shortly after birth. The second is done at about 3 to 6 months of age. The third is done at about 18 months to 4 years of age. Malauna has already had two of the three staged surgeries and soon she will be having the third. Depending on how this surgery goes will detect the next steps, we are praying that this surgery is successful, and she won’t need a heart transplant until she’s an adult – hopefully never. Malauna has a one-year-old brother and a newborn baby sister, and her best friends are my 5-year-old twins Charleigh and Jackson.
