Lavell’s Family
Lavell is an 8-year-old boy diagnosed with Prader-Willi syndrome when he was 2 months old. At the beginning he was a poor feeder with low muscle tone. He was sent home from the NICU with a feeding tube; now he has the opposite difficulties. He has an uncontrollable hunger that we struggle with on a daily basis with behavior issues caused by the hunger. He then got diagnosed with infantile scoliosis when he was 6 months old. He’s had multiple back surgeries, which happen every 6 months until he turns 15. Life has been a rollercoaster to say the least! But even though he’s gone through so many procedures he’s still such a lovable, sweet boy. And even though it feels like we live at the hospital sometimes, he never gets tired of seeing the doctors! In fact, he loves going to the doctor and hospital. He has overcome so much, and I am so proud to say that’s my baby!
We are requesting a specialty bike or something he can ride outdoors that will also help with exercise because of his condition, to help him lose weight but at the same time will make him feel like he can fit in with other kids, because he can’t do most things the other kids can when playing outside.
