Cainan’s Family

Cainan with a fishCainan was born 6 weeks early. He is a twin and while in labor with them Cainan’s heartbeat was lost for 8 minutes. I was then rushed into an emergency c-section and Cainan’s umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. He was resuscitated and had a NICU stay. Cainan has recently been diagnosed with autism, ADHD, language disorder, sensory intolerance, delayed milestone and significant developmental delay. It is unknown if Cainan received brain damage at birth from being without oxygen for so long, but due to his head circumference it is expected that he did. He has an MRI scheduled in December to assess his brain and give us those answers; although, there is no treatment for it. Cainan is a very bright little boy who has the potential for a great future with some help. We have recently enrolled him into ABA therapy to try and help with his aggression, emotional meltdowns, outburst, hitting, elopement, and throwing objects at people.

Cainan and a stop sign

He is very loving; he just can’t always sort through all the emotions he is feeling. Our insurance is covering most of the therapy however we do still have to pay a $30 copay per visit which adds up quickly for daily therapies that are necessary for him to have a semi normal life. Cainan has two siblings who this is also taking a toll on as well and mom and dad are tired. We would love any help covering copays, respite care, or anything special for Cainan and his siblings to enjoy. Cainan loves ” red octagons” so he was very excited to have his picture made with a stop sign.

Thank you for all that you are doing.
