Ansley’s Family

Ansley at homecoming

Ansley was born on December 12, 2007. Everything was normal and healthy until at about 4 months when we noticed she was developmentally behind. We started babies can’t wait and working to help her physically. At about 14 months, Ansley was diagnosed with Schizencephaly  a rare birth defect where she is missing 20% of her brain. This section that she is missing controls a lot of the gross and fine motor skills. Ansley has overcome so many obstacles already and become very determined and independent. If there is something she wants to get done, she will find a way. Ansley enjoys being a part of her school and friends. She lights up the room anywhere she goes.

The gift we are requesting are basically remodeling our bathroom. By widening the doorframe and replacing the tub with a walk-in tub, she will be able to safely get in and out of the shower. This also helps her caregivers. As her primary caregiver, she is getting longer and heavier and making it harder to pick her up and place her in the tub we currently have. Right now, we have to carry her, or she crawl into the bathroom.
